The Revenue Cycle Data Solutions Analyst plays a key role in advancing revenue cycle performance by turning complex data into actionable insights. This role supports revenue cycle functions by analyzing data, identifying opportunities for improvement, and delivering insights that drive informed decision-making across The University of Kansas Health System. This role requires strong analytical and communication skills, with expertise in statistical analysis, operational benchmarking, and data storytelling. The analyst will interpret complex findings into actionable data from existing analytical solutions and present recommendations to cross-functional teams to drive process improvement. They will partner with the Analytics & Business Intelligence (A&BI) team to ensure new reporting solutions effectively address identified needs. In addition, the analyst will play a key role in advancing the revenue cycle reporting ecosystem, moving from traditional, manual processes to automated, AI-driven solutions. This includes overseeing the collection, analysis, and presentation of data using advanced analytics and automation to deliver clear, actionable insights.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Practices effective use of data and analytics tools, supports end-user knowledge in self-service reporting platforms. Leverages consistent application of data governance practices and vendor-supported workflows in alignment with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Performs analysis of existing reports, user requests, and workflow opportunities. Recommends best practices, efficiencies for reporting processes and data utilization, as well as explanations for data variances
- Provides guidance and subject matter expertise on the design and development of dashboards, reports, and visualizations that support revenue cycle performance, compliance, and strategic planning, with emphasis on leveraging and enhancing existing data structures and reporting tools.
- Promotes a culture of self-service analytics by training and supporting operational leaders and end users in tools such as Epic SlicerDicer, Reporting Workbench, and other Business Intelligence platforms.
- Partners with revenue cycle stakeholders and data analytics to implement analytics initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
- Utilizes data storytelling to communicate trends, identify risks and opportunities, and support executive decision-making.
- Adheres to data governance standards to ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of reporting.
- Stays up to date on current analytical and business intelligence industry trends, identifies “best practices”, analyzes organizational opportunity and risk mitigation requirements, and advises leadership accordingly.
- Consults with revenue cycle customers to create knowledge and information through analytical solutions to help solve business problems using information design principles and human centered design.
- Supports and maintains a centralized data repository for revenue cycle analytics, enabling streamlined access to financial, operational, and performance data across the organization using existing health system structure.
- Leverages advanced data modeling techniques to support reporting, dashboarding, and predictive analytics initiatives ensuring data integrity and analytical rigor that drives strategic decision-making and operational efficiency for revenue cycle data within the health system
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
- High School Graduate
- Associates Degree within six months from the date of hire
- 3 or more years of experience in process improvement, data reporting, analytics, or statistical reporting.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree in Health Information Management (RHIA), Computer Science/Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited college or university
- 5 or more years of experience working with Epic data, Clarity, and Slicer Dicer.
Preferred Licensure and Certification
- Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) - American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) - American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
- Registered Health Information Administrator(RHIA) - American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
Knowledge Requirements
- Knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle processes (patient access, billing, coding, denials, collections, etc.).
- Strong understanding of data analysis, reporting, and visualization techniques.
- Working knowledge of data tools (e.g., SQL, Excel, Power BI, Epic reporting tools).
- Awareness of automation, AI, and machine learning concepts in reporting.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to healthcare data.
- Proficient with MS Office Products: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
