Graduate Nurses/Residency
The University of Kansas Health System provides many opportunities for nursing graduates to advance their careers. This includes onsite continuing education, certifications and leadership advancement. You will work in a Magnet-designated workplace that presents a Magnet Nurse of the Year award.
We don’t see our patients as numbers or cases. For us, it’s personal. We go above and beyond to exhibit genuine care and compassion. Our people feel like a part of a team, committed to others. As nurses, we work here because we see patients that other hospitals cannot. We see it as a strength, as would many candidates who are drawn to working with the best.
Nurse Residency Program (NRP)
The NRP helps newly licensed nurses transition from advanced beginner to a competent nurse, develop effective decision-making skills and clinical leadership at the bedside. It also helps strengthen the commitment to the profession of nursing. What sets this program apart is that our health system helps new graduates adapt to a fast-paced healthcare environment. The NRP was one of the first nationally recognized programs that utilizes the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Curriculum. The employee-based nurse residency program at The University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org)
