The Joint Commission

The Joint Commission is nationally recognized as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization's commitment to excellent patient care. We have been continuously accredited by The Joint Commission since 2008. This three-year accreditation indicates that we meet The Joint Commission's high performance standards and recognizes the dedication, knowledge and professionalism of our staff.

Magnet Recognition

The University of Kansas Health System has earned Magnet designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program for four terms. This recognition indicates high-quality patient care, nursing excellence and low turnover rates. It also indicates that our nurses deliver excellent patient outcomes and have a high level of job satisfaction. We were the first hospital in Kansas to attain this designation.

U.S. News & World Report

Once again,The University of Kansas Health System is named one of U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals, with seven adult medical and surgical specialties ranked among the top programs in the 2021–22 report. Our hospital was also named the best hospital in Kansas City and in Kansas. We have earned these honors every year since their inception.

The University of Kansas Cancer Center attains the National Cancer Institute’s most prestigious status

The National Cancer Institute has awarded the KU Cancer Center the highest level of recognition: Comprehensive. Considered the gold standard for cancer centers, the Comprehensive status means that patients will be cared for by the world’s leading cancer experts who have access to a robust portfolio of clinical trials. It is a tribute to the many physicians, nurses, and support staff who provide exceptional care every day to the center’s patients.
