Position Summary / Career Interest:
The main role of the Knowledge Management is to champion organization-wide knowledge sharing and data stewardship, to ensure the organization's information, experience and ingenuity is shared inside and (as appropriate) outside the organization. Knowledge Management reports to the Informatics Department. Knowledge Management will understand the full clinical and business cycle and will work with the electronic health record (EHR) as well as other systems. This role requires advanced skills in the practice of Informatics, data evaluation, quality evaluation, remediation and monitoring, workflow analysis/implications, decision support, data warehousing and project management. This position is responsible for ongoing quality assessments, quality and data remediation planning/monitoring, enterprise projects and requests related to data standardization and integrity. Partnerships in this endeavor are critical; the Knowledge Management Analyst Specialist operates as a as an information steward, data standards champion and collaborates with stakeholders to achieve goals. This position requires excellent communication, project management, analytical, and facilitation skills. Desired results include data quality, standard organizational definitions and process standardization to improve and support data quality and business intelligence to achieve optimal patient and organizational quality outcomes.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Data/Information Stewardship: Demonstrates advanced understanding of data life cycle, structure, architecture, and flow. Is a key driver of data standards, ownership, and delivery. Applies these skills to facilitate data quality, decision support and business intelligence. Develops and supports organizational data standardization to promote knowledge sharing, through such tools as standardized nomenclatures and taxonomies. Works with operational and technical owners to develop definitions and standards for key data or process points identified within Health System projects. Utilizes industry standards and best practices to validate definitions and standards. Navigates the definition and standards governance process in partnership with operational and technical owners. Collaborates closely with all stakeholders, including reporting teams, application teams, and Business Intelligence teams regarding data integration and improvement projects. Actively seeks out and identifies data quality issues, the source of the issues, and reasonable solutions to the issues. Collaborates with stakeholders to establish standards that uphold legal and ethical standards related to data security, regulatory requirements, confidentiality, and patients’/clients’ right to privacy. Participate in procurement, customization, development, implementation, management, evaluation and continuous improvement of the systems that support the work and decisions of the organization. Drives the use of standardization where possible (including workflows, terminology, and processes).
- Analysis: Demonstrates excellent analytical thinking and decisive judgment. Analyzes issues and problems systematically, gathering broad and balanced input, and translating conclusions into timely decisions and actions. Prioritizes work per organization needs and goals. Ability to work independently with little direction.
- Quality: Applies recognized methodologies for quality/process/performance improvement. Supports organizational programs and initiatives in clinical, operational, financial and legal arenas. Completes integrated or multi system quality assessments, identifies issues, determines scale of issue, coordinates the decision making for and the remediation of complex quality issues that affect Health System functions or that have a cross technical system impact. Coordinates needed reporting and analytics clean up related to the remediated quality issue. Contributes to improvement processes (including patient care and business efficiency) by being an organizational leader that facilitates an environment of knowledge sharing, collaboration, standards and clarity.
- Process Management: Demonstrates advanced/proficient knowledge of system life cycles and complies with defined framework for system implementation for developing, reviewing, approving and disseminating changes into the electronic medical record system to support Operational/Business standards and processes. Demonstrates process management skills by facilitating complex changes through implementation and post implementation monitoring.
- Change Management: Recognizes the human impact of change and strategically plans communication and education. Recognizes the technical impact of change and anticipates and plans for change risk. Actively engaged in management of standardized terminology and metrics updates, inactivation’s and additions to prevent outdated or inaccurate information.
- System Knowledge: Demonstrates proficient understanding of the technical capabilities of our current application systems and applies general system knowledge to facilitate process redesign and continued improvement. Proactively seeks out learning opportunities to improve skills and system.
- Knowledge Sharing: Promotes knowledge sharing through the organization's operational business processes and systems to facilitate seamless and consistent exchange of information and data across systems. Promotes collaborative tools to facilitate sharing of ideas and work among internal teams and external partners. Provides support for the establishment and nurturing of communities of practice. Helps disseminate information about the organization's knowledge sharing program to internal and external audiences, including organizing knowledge sharing events (such as knowledge fairs, site visits, interviews), maintaining communications on knowledge sharing across the organization, participation in orientation and training sessions, and preparation of publications and presentations. Shares experiences across communities of practice, business units, and networks on innovative approaches in knowledge sharing, including preparation of case studies
- Communication: Able to establish straightforward, productive relationships with individuals and teams across the organization. Able to explain complex concepts in language that is easily understood by individuals from diverse disciplines. Demonstrates excellent facilitation skills. Facilitates a culture of collaboration and trust between clinical (nursing, medical, and ancillary), technological (IT), and operational (finance, operations, etc.) stakeholders that shares the values, contributions, and challenges each face.
- Technical Knowledge: Demonstrates understanding of our current systems and architecture. Demonstrates understanding of data warehousing, and its impact at this organization. Demonstrates an understanding of Structured Query Language and advanced Excel operations. Leverages SQL and Excel skills to develop and implement processes to improve Knowledge Management evaluation and remediation activities. Demonstrates an understanding of limits of personal expertise and seeks assistance when needed.
- Professional Growth: Supports hospital strategic goals by continuously enhancing knowledge and competency in the field of Informatics and Informatics Industry standards.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree in Healthcare related or business field
- High School Graduate
- 3 or more years of business and financial experience
- 5 or more years of informatics experience
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master's Degree in position related field
Required Licensure and Certification
- EPIC Proficiency/Certification as designated by role requirements. within 180 Days
Knowledge Requirements
- Demonstrates knowledge of computers and desktop software
- Ability to work autonomously, by demonstrating self-motivation and creativity.
- Excellent communication, writing, organizational, facilitation and presentation skills.
- Ability to effectively interact with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, administrative staff, clinical personnel, and peers.
- Ability to manage several high priority projects simultaneously.
- Advanced working knowledge of computer spreadsheets and databases.
- Intermediate Structure Query Language (SQL) skills
- Experience with workflow process and design using Visio diagrams
- Demonstrates persistence in solving problems.
- Advanced proficiency in advanced Excel functions (Tables, Pivots, Formulas) preferred
