Physician - Bariatric and Metabolic Surgeon
The University of Kansas Health System (TUKHS) and the Department of Surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center are seeking a fellowship-trained Bariatric and Metabolic Surgeon to join our growing academic surgical team. This is an outstanding opportunity to become part of a nationally recognized health system and MBSAQIP-accredited bariatric surgery program dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care, advancing surgical innovation, and educating the next generation of surgeons.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive bariatric and metabolic surgical care to patients throughout Kansas, Missouri, and the surrounding Midwest. Responsibilities include the evaluation and management of patients with obesity and metabolic disease, performance of advanced minimally invasive and robotic bariatric procedures, participation in quality improvement initiatives, and engagement in teaching and scholarly activities.
Faculty will have the opportunity to develop a robust clinical practice while contributing to the academic mission of The University of Kansas Medical Center through resident and medical student education, research, and program development.

Clinical Scope
The bariatric surgery program offers the full spectrum of contemporary bariatric and metabolic procedures, including:
- Sleeve gastrectomy
- Roux-en-Y gastric bypass
- Duodenal switch and SADI procedures
- Revisional bariatric surgery
- Gastric band revision, adjustment, and removal
- Advanced minimally invasive and robotic surgical approaches
Academic Opportunities

Required Qualifications
- MD, DO, or equivalent degree
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery
- Fellowship training in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery
- Eligible for medical licensure in Kansas and Missouri
- Commitment to multidisciplinary, patient-centered care
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in complex and revisional bariatric surgery
- Interest in clinical research, outcomes research, or quality improvement
- Commitment to resident and medical student education
- Leadership experience or interest in program development
