Position Summary / Career Interest:

Responsible for leading; and administering and monitoring anesthesia to patients during surgical and/or obstetrical procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct patient care (90% Clinical)
  • Assist with on-boarding of new employees in the facility they lead
    • Provide insight into nuances for the building and cases assigned there
    • Is aware of cases that would benefit the CRNA to be involved in and assists getting new hire assigned to those rooms, including moving an orientee to a room with positive case experience when available
  • Participates in implementation and follow up of departmental policies/initiatives
    • Machine checks
    • Anesthesia pause compliance
    • Time out compliance
    • Joint commission requirements
    • SI review and follow up
    • RQI facilitation and compliance
    • Expert on equipment specific to facility
  • Oversee workflow, processes, and teamwork
    • Round on rooms to observe timeouts, Joint Commission compliance and documentation
    • Supports Charge CRNAs in their role
    • Troubleshoot issues as they arise.
    • Document and escalate issues as needed to Associate Chief/Chief
    • Provide opportunities to show support and build teamwork
  • Willing to share role of educating providers in lead area as well as follow up on quality metrics as directed by Education/Quality Lead, Associate and Chief
  • Provide input for CRNA evaluations
    • Provide documentation to Chief and Coordinator of kudos and issues that develop throughout the year to be added to CRNAs file
    • Meet with CRNA and Associate Chief/Chief to provide input into CRNA evaluation
  • May represent the CRNAs at meetings as well as participate on appropriate committees as assigned
  • Lead position responsibilities as a resource and consultant to CRNA staff and Chief CRNA as well as anesthesiologists are ongoing and extend beyond office time. 
  • Serves as a role model for policies, procedures, teamwork, and positive attitude
  • Willing to provide clear and concise spread of information up and down the communication chain


JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required

  • 2+ years’ experience as CRNA
  • Current license in good standing to practice as a CRNA in the state of Kansas
  • Maintain appropriate continuing education credits for CRNA recertification as defined by the AANA and the council on recertification of nurse anesthetists
  • Master's degree (minimal standard)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • Demonstrated ability to satisfy standards of performance delineated by law and associated professional practice standards
  • Willing to have difficult conversations as needed and escalate issues to Chief or Assistant as needed
