Position Summary / Career Interest:

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking an experienced cybersecurity manager to join our Healthcare Information Technology Services (HITS) security organization. This position is responsible for leading our Security Architecture & Integration team, which oversees Security Architecture, Solution Design, Security Integrations, Cloud Security, and AI Security functions. You will lead a high performing team of cybersecurity engineers and an architect who design, implement, and integrate security solutions across our healthcare infrastructure. As the manager of this team, you will be accountable for end-to-end architectural design and solution delivery, building critical partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including University of Kansas Medical Center and Kansas University. This role requires strong leadership and technical skills to manage a team of engineers and architects responsible for providing world-class security architecture and integration services to our organization. You will need to understand and apply a wide variety of concepts, practices, and procedures to resolve a broad range of complex technical and architectural challenges. Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  • Support the development, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of a comprehensive and risk-based enterprise cybersecurity program across all 8 cybersecurity domains: Security & Risk Management, Asset Security, Security Engineering, Communications & Network Security, Identity & Access Management, Security Assessment & Testing, Security Operations, Software Development Security.
  • Support the development and execution of a Cybersecurity strategic roadmap in alignment with the HITS and UKHS strategic roadmap
  • Develop and oversee the monitoring and continuous improvement for the assigned portion of the Cybersecurity organization.
  • Provide leadership to the assigned portion of the Cybersecurity organization, which will consist of one or two teams of individual contributors.
  • Partner with UKHS business units to facilitate cybersecurity and risk management objectives while minimizing operational impact
  • Assist with the overall business technology planning, providing a current knowledge and future vision of technology and systems for the assigned portion of the Cybersecurity organization.
  • Leadership and development of the Professionals within the assigned portion of the Cybersecurity organization
  • Support the development and enhancement of a cybersecurity management framework with supporting policies and technical standards.
  • Support the development of Executive and Board Level communications regarding UKHS cybersecurity posture, risks, and roadmap progress.
  • Support business development planning and acquiring the correct technology in compliance with security policies and regulations
  • Support the development and execution of a strategy to analyze security threats in real-time and instituting appropriate responses.
  • Direct the execution of training, and dissemination of policies, procedures, standards, controls, and guidelines for the assigned portion of Cybersecurity organization
  • Build, hire and retain a security team of world-class talent for the assigned portion of Cybersecurity organization to enable UKHS to meet its stated vision of leading the nation in caring, healing, teaching and discovering.

Required Education and Experience
  • High School Graduate
  • Working-level knowledge of at least 2 of the cybersecurity domains: Security & Risk Management, Asset Security, Security Engineering, Communications & Network Security, Identity & Access Management, Security Assessment & Testing, Security Operations, Software Development Security.

Knowledge Requirements
  • Understanding of cloud computing concepts.
  • Intimate understanding of the assigned portion of Cybersecurity organization, with at least 1 year of experience in a large enterprise environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills: must be able to effectively communicate with peer stakeholders across the organization and clearly set expectations for direct reports.
  • Strong and progressive leadership skills, embracing the concepts of servant leadership and extreme ownership.
  • Functional understanding of internal, regulatory, and industry standards.
