Position Summary / Career Interest:
The Clinical Director of Cardiovascular Service Line is responsible for the mission and values implementation, and the operational leadership and direction of assigned departments. In this role, the nursing director is responsible for performance planning and improvement, clinical quality, fiscal responsibility to meet organizational goals; patient, customer and employee satisfaction. They will additionally maintain JCAHO and other regulatory standards. The Director of Cardiology is also responsible for maintaining their own clinical skills and knowledge as needed to assist staff with patient care when required. They must provide an overall professional image and role model for the staff and Nursing Department.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Oversight required within the SW KC Market Cardiology Service Line include: Outreach, Marketing and Revenue opportunities, Cardiovascular Center, Cardiology Perioperative & Procedural Services, and Cardiology Services clinics to include off campus locations. Oversees physician and clinical staff schedules, patient scheduling within the Cardiology Service Line. Manages programs to mitigate risk for employee health, patient safety and clinical operations.
- Provides clinical direction and leadership to the SW KC Market Cardiology Perioperative & Procedural Services department. Directs and manages clinical oversight of all divisional areas: preop assessment clinics, operating rooms, procedural rooms, pre/post units and sterile processing departments assigned to Cardiology Perioperative & Procedural Services in the SW KC Market. Identifies needs of Cardiology Perioperative & Procedural Services leaders and staff as well as customers (to include Perioperative & Procedural Services Business Operations, Surgical and Anesthesia Departments, etc.) Ensures that Perioperative & Procedural clinical priorities are aligned with the needs and priorities of Perioperative & Procedural Business Operations and other customers. Sets goals for each Perioperative & Procedural department in collaboration with Director Perioperative & Procedural Services Business Operations, Sr Director Perioperative and Procedural Services and Vice President Perioperative and Procedural Services.
- Ensures adequate resources are available to provide high quality care. Oversees the development and management of Cardiology service line operating budget and annual capital budget. Reviews needs for staffing, capital, capacity and support. Assesses staffing plans and surgical case volume projections with demand projections.
- Oversees, as Process Owner, Lean improvement activities in the Cardiology Service Line. Collaborates with Vice President of OHPI Operations, Vice President Perioperative and Procedural Services, Sr Director Perioperative and Procedural Services, Director Perioperative & Procedural Services Business Operations, Surgical and Anesthesia Departments, and others to identify ongoing improvement initiatives and Kaizen Workshop targets and Action Bulletins while supporting the unit-based process owners.
- Drives Service Excellence: Champions quality / performance improvement efforts within all areas of the Cardiology Service Line. Sets priorities and oversees progress for department-specific PI initiatives based on current performance, regulatory requirements, and institutional and national initiatives. Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory standards and requirements including Joint Commission, Dept of Health, FDA, HIPAA, OSHA, and others. Assists the Cardiology Service Line clinical leadership to assess programs, establish goals and objectives for TUKHS and to prioritize key initiatives and the required resources to implement them efficiently and effectively. Organize and manage special projects impacting the Cardiology Service Line.
- Promotes positive, collaborative relationships between the Cardiology clinics, Perioperative & Procedural Services clinical and business operations, hospital departments, and outreach locations providing service line components. Sets example of constructive, professional and positive relationships at all times. Promotes proactive issue identification and resolution between all areas of the Cardiology Service Line and primary customers. Ensures active and productive participation at forums for issue identification and resolution. Represents the Cardiology Service Line on nursing and hospital/medical staff committees as requested.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree
- 5 or more years of experience
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor Degree Nursing
Required Licensure and Certification
- CPR/ AED/ BLS - Other BLS upon Hire
- Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Single State - State Board of Nursing upon Hire
