Responsibilities
Job Summary
Responsible for the delivery of professional nursing services for all phases of obstetrics care from ante- through postpartum, which will address the physical, psycho-social, spiritual, cultural, developmental, and age-appropriate needs of each individual patient/family. Accountable for a group of patients for a designated time frame. Provides care within an assigned unit, and coordinates care planning with other disciplines. Serves as a nursing resource to the facility with the ability to provide care in a variety of inpatient areas/units.

- Performs patient assessment.
- Develops plan of care.
- Implements care.
- Evaluates plan of care.
- Provides nursing intervention.
- Assesses patient/family learning needs.
- Ensures safety of patients, visitors, colleagues, and self.
- Participates in department and hospital quality initiatives.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
- Graduate of a school of nursing.
- 1 or more years Labor and Delivery or NICU experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor Degree Nursing Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
- Previous NICU experience.
Required Licensure and Certification
- Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Single State - State Board of Nursing with eligibility to work in the state of MO.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months of hire/transfer.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) upon completion of orientation.
Preferred Licensure and Certification
- Maternal Newborn Nursing (RNC-MNN) - National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing Specialties (NCC)
- Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB) - National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing Specialties (NCC)
- Low-Risk Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing (RNC-LRN) - National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing Specialties (NCC)
- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant - International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE)
