Position Summary / Career Interest:

The Nursing Associate II is an unlicensed staff member awaiting their RN license who provides guided nursing care in conjunction with a licensed nurse to coordinate care delivery and education through collaboration with patient, family and all health care team providers to ensure safe, effective and quality patient care. Follows organization policies in providing safe patient care. Performs other duties as assigned.


Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  • Provides for patient safety and reports conditions of risk; seeks appropriate assistance to perform patient care safely.
  • Uses resources efficiently and effectively in patient care.
  • Utilizes department/unit standards when performing tech duties.
  • Bases decisions, actions and performance of all technical skills on standards of care and approved protocols and techniques.
  • Interacts with health team members to meet immediate and specific patient care needs.
  • Works under the direction of the RN/Charge Nurse and reports patient needs and outcomes.
  • Receives/relays all forms of communication accurately, promptly, courteously, and to the appropriate person/department.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
  • High School Graduate
  • Associate Degree Nursing prior to start date. OR
  • Bachelor Degree Nursing prior to start date.
  • Verification of current enrollment in nursing program prior to hire.
  • Graduation verification required within 90 days after start date during transition into Clinical Nurse Entry role.
  • The Nursing Associate II may work in this role after graduating from nursing school until starting in the Clinical Nurse Entry role with our health system. This includes up to 2 attempts to pass the NCLEX for up to 90 days from date of hire. Graduates who fail the NCLEX more than twice may apply for other available unlicensed positions.

Required Licensure and Certification
  • Basic Life Support Heartsaver (BLS HS) (Non-Clinical) - American Heart Association (AHA) within 14 days
