The Director, Advanced Practice Providers will supervise and manage the employed PAs and APRNs within assigned area. Responsibilities include: planning, directing, organizing, staffing and coordinating care provider by the Advanced Practice Providers. The Director, Advanced Practice Providers will also participate in advanced practice Provider recruitment and retention. This position includes APP patient care duties in addition to the supervisory duties.


Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs.
  • Discusses case with physician and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive patient care plan.
  • Records physical findings, and formulates plan and prognosis, based on patient's condition.
  • Prescribes or recommends drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures.  Refers patients to physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment.
  • Effectively identifies, evaluates, and addresses disease prevention and health promotion issues of the population in the practice while administering quality patient care.
  • Works in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the medical staff, which allows for consultation, collaboration, or referral.  Works collaboratively with supervising physician.  Communicates openly with supervising physician peers.
  • Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of acute, chronic, and long-term health care issues.
  • Educates patients and/or families about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications.
  • Performs physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines and instructions of physician.
  • Adheres to written protocols specific to position.
  • Chairs or leads committees, meetings, and/or projects as assigned. Able to lead projects to completion. Completes agenda, minutes, and reports for leadership groups as necessary.
  • Accountable for APP patient experience, productivity, and engagement. Provides timely and constructive feedback and corrective action as needed. Responsible for APP orientation and scheduling and annual evaluations.
  • Assists with the recruitment of high quality APP to meet current and future needs. Completes references for candidates.
  • Provides leadership and mentoring to all APPs across Primary Care and Specialty Care
  • Develops protocols and practice models to support the growth goals of the system and individual clinics
  • Responsible for the performance goals of each APP, discusses opportunities and creates plans to achieve individual performance goals
  • Develops and maintains APP models in accordance with best practice workflows
  • Reviews all APP performance data to include patient satisfaction and productivity, provides corrective plans and coaches the APPs
  • Participates in the strategic planning of new site development and the APPs role and responsibilities in the care continuum of each site
  • Conducts routine meetings with the APPs to ensure continuity of practice and ensure the associates are engaged and have the tools and training needed to be succesful
  • Participates in physician committee meetings and clinic meetings to ensure the physicians and APPs are in alignment
  • Responsible for the Urgent Care sites provider staffing
  • Develops all opportunities for position growth and design at new sites and existing sites based on best practices and exam room utilization
  • Responsible for reviewing production levels for each APP quarterly to ensure at least median performance is achieved, develops and enforces plans to achieve the goals of the program to ensure access to the community
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
  • Master's Degree in Physician Assistant OR
  • Master's Degree or Doctorate Degree in Advanced Practice Nursing
  • 1 or more years of clinical practice experience

Required Licensure and Certification
  • Licensed Physician Assistant (PA) - State Board of Healing Arts upon Hire OR
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) - State Board of Nursing upon Hire
  • Advanced practice certification required. APRNs may obtain within one year of date of hire; Specific certification may be required depending on specialty
