The Specialty and Retail Pharmacy Accreditation Program Coordinator ensures system-wide compliance with specialty and retail pharmacy accreditation standards. This includes planning, implementing, and coordinating accreditation compliance for all applicable accreditations including Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC), Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) and others. The Specialty and Retail Pharmacy Accreditation Coordinator is also responsible for ongoing readiness for accreditation surveys as well as regulatory complaint investigation. The position provides support for continuous quality improvement efforts related to accreditation requirements and/or findings.


Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

  • Manages and provides oversight of accreditation and regulatory compliance to ensure all entities are compliant with required standards for planned and unannounced.
  • Designs and implements a systematic approach to ensure a high level of awareness of accreditation and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains an integrated, consistent plan for continuously complying with all applicable standards.
  • Implements an ongoing organizational needs assessment for regulatory compliance and makes recommendations based on the assessment.
  • Identifies educational issues related to accreditation and regulatory compliance and collaborates with leaders to design and implement staff education plans to meet those opportunities.
  • Coordinates regulatory compliance and accreditation activities as assigned.
  • Leads continuous readiness efforts providing direction to department leadership in planning of a systematic, system-wide approach to continuous regulatory readiness.
  • Serves as a coordination point and resource for applicable accreditations and regulations.
  • Cultivates and manages organizational relationships with accreditation organizations.
  • Directs preparation of written responses and development of corrective action plans.
  • Collects, analyzes and reports data in support of continuous readiness activities.
  • Assist in assuring accuracy and timeliness in submission to reporting centers.
  • Conducts surveillance tracers and audits in applicable areas to address outstanding accreditation needs and ensure ongoing compliance. Disseminates the results of audits and surveillance to stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Partners with key stakeholders in the development, updates and implementation of policies and guidelines as they relate to accreditation standards.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience

  • Master Degree Nursing OR
  • Master Health Care Management OR
  • Masters Business Administration OR
  • Master's Degree Nursing Organizational Leadership, Public Health, Informatics or other related fields OR
  • Bachelors Degree AND
  • 3 or more years accreditation and compliance position.


Preferred Education and Experience

  • 1 or more years specialty pharmacy accreditation (including URAC, ACHC and/or TJC)


Required Licensure and Certification

  • CJCP or HACP upon Hire


Knowledge Requirements

  • Demonstrates superior oral and written communication and time management skills
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet inflexible deadlines while maintaining composure
  • Excellent communication, writing, organizational, time-management, and presentation skills
  • Ability to effectively interact with various team members and key stakeholders
