Revenue Cycle Informatics is a specialty that integrates revenue cycle operations, computer science, and information science to manage and communicate data, information, knowledge, and process insights. This role reports to the Revenue Cycle Advanced Technology Hub leadership team. The position requires foundational informatics skills to support system value through accuracy, compliance, operational efficiency, automation, and user experience. The analyst applies workflow design, and process optimization principles to improve revenue cycle performance. Responsibilities include developing standards and best practices, ensuring staff efficiency, and aligning operational needs with upcoming technology. The analyst partners cross-functionally across departments, incorporating automation and AI opportunities, and promotes system adoption through effective collaboration and communication. The goal of this role is to use informatics knowledge to drive measurable improvements in revenue cycle outcomes, ensuring optimized workflows, improved interoperability, and financial performance.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Standards and Workflow Design: Develops and maintains revenue cycle standards and best practices for technology use, documentation, and process execution. Designs and optimizes workflows to improve accuracy, efficiency, compliance, and staff productivity. Ensures workflows align with Epic best practice, organizational policies, and operational needs.
- Analysis and Optimization: Demonstrates foundational analysis skills. Analyzes current workflows against desired future state to identify opportunities for process assessment and optimization. Applies data analysis concepts to support automation, AI integration, and informed decision-making. Completes root cause analysis for performance issues and recommends solutions that enhance operational and financial outcomes.
- Cross-Functional and Stakeholder Collaboration: Serves as the centralized intake and initial point of contact for revenue cycle informatics requests or issue investigation for assigned areas. Works cross-functionally with stakeholders across the revenue cycle to ensure alignment between operational requirements and technology solutions. Facilitates collaboration to support successful system adoption.
- Automation, AI, and Technology Alignment: Identifies and implements opportunities for automation and AI to improve staff efficiency, reduce manual work, and optimize workflows. Aligns operational needs with upcoming technology advancements and revenue cycle roadmap initiatives.
- Performance Monitoring and Documentation: Monitors the performance of implementations to ensure intended outcomes are achieved. Maintains comprehensive documentation of workflows, standards, system changes, and configuration updates.
- Quality, Compliance, and Best Practice: Ensures workflows and processes meet regulatory requirements, billing compliance, payer guidelines, and quality initiatives. Applies continuous process improvement methodologies to foster operational excellence. Conducts usability reviews to identify and address workflow inefficiencies and promote Epic best practice adoption.
- Usability and Change Management: Observes end users to identify opportunities to improve the system or user knowledge, promoting greater adoption and efficiency. Leads non–enterprise-wide change requests from initiation to completion, ensuring stakeholder engagement and end user readiness. Supports pre- and post-implementation education efforts to drive adoption of changes.
- Professional Growth and Knowledge: Maintains and expands knowledge of Epic best practice, revenue cycle operations, automation, AI, and informatics industry trends. Participates in training, self-study, and cross-departmental learning opportunities to advance skills and support organizational strategic goals.
- Distributed Build: Responsible for limited build through the distributed build program after trained and/or certified as appropriate for the software supported.
- Process Adherence: Complies with defined framework for system implementation for developing, reviewing, approving and disseminating changes.
- Information System Knowledge: Applies basic understanding of the technical capabilities of our current systems to facilitate end user education and customization. Obtains required application training and demonstrates competency. Uses resources available to further enhance knowledge deficits.

Required Education and Experience
- Associates Degree in related field of study from an accredited college or university
- 4 or more years of experience in optimization, end user trouble shooting, process improvement, data analysis, help desk, EMR implementation or technical workflows (Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for 1 year of experience)
- Employees hired prior to April 2026 qualify with High School Diploma and eight (8) years of related experience which must include 4 years of experience in optimization, end user trouble shooting, process improvement, data analysis, help desk, EMR implementation or technical workflows
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree in related field of study from an accredited college or university
- 6 or more years of experience in Informatics.
Required Licensure and Certification
- Must obtain EPIC Proficiency/ Epic Certification within six months of completing orientation.
Knowledge Requirements
- Ability to travel between Health System locations with minimal to no notice.
