The Assistant Director of Applications provides strategic thought leadership to the assigned application unit to optimize the quality of patient care. This leader maintains strong partnerships with key stakeholders, understanding their business needs and translating into effective application tools, delivering successful methodologies and expertise at the program level. Also serves as a mentor to all levels of the application staff.

This leader maintains strong partnerships with key stakeholders, understanding their business needs and translating into effective application tools, delivering successful methodologies and expertise at the program level. Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Provides effective leadership to the department.
- Able to strategically identify, internalize and communicate the critical success factors necessary for the department to support organizational goals.
- Responsible for the day-to-day management of the project work streams associated with the Electronic Health Record or other applications.
- Skillfully administers, directs and allocates all organizational resources.
- Responsible for the management, coaching and mentor-ship of all application staff members.
- Explains how objectives will be met, the approach, known issues, risks and assumptions.
- Responsible for defining the resources needed for program implementation and creation of project schedules and work plans.
- Reviews project status reports to assess success issues and/or risks associated with the individual projects and escalate necessary issues appropriately.
- Assists the Director in developing, executing and communicating the Application Program’s vision, goals and activities.
- Communicates and champions the project requirements necessary to execute the EHR Program. This requires certification in assigned applications within 6 months of assignment.
- Works with the PMs to continually ensure expectations regarding scope, schedule and budget are met and lessons learned are applied moving forward.
- Provides continual analysis on workflow and demand to ensure that program meets deadlines.
- Assesses, recommends, implements, tests and maintains systems and data related to health care operations, documentation and reporting. This includes, but is not limited to, electronic health record (EHR / EMR) systems.
- Maintains a request process that includes intake of user requests, feasibility analysis, prioritization and implementation.
- Manages and/or participates in all regulatory monitoring and reporting processes, including but not limited to Meaningful Use and Joint Commission works with the Director of Informatics and other leadership to integrate health informatics into clinical practice to promote efficient operations, patient safety and quality care.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree
- High School Graduate
- 3 or more years experience in management role with direct reports
Preferred Education and Experience
- Masters Business Administration
- 5 or more years combined experience in a leadership role
- 5 or more years experience in a management role with direct reports
- Project Management experience with large system implementation
