Physician – Consult/Liaison Psychiatrist
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at The University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City, Kansas, is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join our team in the Division of Consult/Liaison Services.
This role will work directly with the Director of the Division, providing direct patient care within the Consult and Liaison service area, particularly in the inpatient hospital setting. The position will also maintain a clinical practice in outpatient clinics and/or outreach sites, offering a full range of therapeutic interventions, including diagnostic assessments, medication evaluation and management, crisis intervention, and comprehensive care for patients with psychiatric disorders. Additionally, the candidate will play a key role in fostering collaboration within the department, ensuring continuity of patient care and follow-up.
Responsibilities also include participation in supervision and teaching within the psychiatric residency program, as well as mentoring psychology trainees and students through didactic lectures and clinical training. The role requires involvement in clinical and administrative on-call duties, weekend call coverage, continuous performance improvement initiatives, and participation in Medical School and Department committees as needed.
Required Qualifications:
MD, DO or equivalent degree
Graduate of an ACGME-accredited Psychiatry Residency program
ABPN board certification/board eligibility in General Psychiatry
Eligible for medical licensure in Kansas and Missouri
1 - 3 years of work experience in an academic medical center and providing inpatient psychiatry services
Preferred Qualifications:
ABPN board certification/board eligibility in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Inpatient experience
