Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Prepares medications for dispensing: Independently fills prescriptions with accuracy.
- Distributes medications and stock items: Independently dispenses prescriptions with accuracy.
- Maintains Pharmacy Inventory: Independently restocks shelves and automation with accuracy. Checks for expired or missing products and reports discrepancies to leader.
- Operates pharmacy computer systems: Independently enters prescription data and patient information into pharmacy systems with accuracy.
- Compliance and recordkeeping: Follows standard procedures for labeling, documentation, and handling of medications.
- Patient Care: Provides courteous, professional service when assisting patients, caregivers, and staff. Directs medication related or clinical questions to a pharmacist.
- Medication Safety: Practices medication safety basics such as barcode scanning and double-checking labels; promptly reports discrepancies to pharmacists or leaders.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
- No previous experience required
Preferred Education and Experience
- High School Graduate or GED.
Required Licensure and Certification
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Kansas locations: CPhT required by first board renewal.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Missouri locations: none
- Pharmacy Technician Registration - State Board of Pharmacy Kansas and/or Missouri - per work state upon Hire
- Technician must maintain certification on an ongoing basis and complete all continuing education requirements.
Preferred Licensure and Certification
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) OR equivalent National Pharmacy Technician Certification.
