Position Summary / Career Interest:
Under the supervisor of the department Manager, the technician has responsibilities to performs EKG's holter monitors as ordered by physician, correctly processes all orders and downloads machine on a daily basis, and assist with stress tests. EKG Technicians maintain a cooperative working relationship with patients, families, medical staff, and interdepartmental personnel.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Performs highest quality noninvasive cardiovascular exams to record variations in electrical potential produced by patients’ heart to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment of patient. (Ekg’s,)
- Follows accepted and established techniques with procedures to include correct hook-up
- lead placement.
- Requires understanding/purpose of test and awareness of normal verse abnormal manifestations.
- Positions and preps patients for all procedures.
- Ability to function with complete effectiveness under conditions of stress and extreme pressure (code blues, traumas)
- Attends to patients comforts and needs during procedure.
- Performs daily work assignments in an efficient, organized manner with optimum degree of accuracy.
- Interacts with physicians and other staff to provide quality, safe and efficient care of patient.
- Identifies nursing needs and notifies nurse or physician if assistance is needed.
- Demonstrates technical expertise in properly caring for equipment and reporting malfunctions.
- Introduces themselves to patients and explains procedure to patient.
- Assumes responsibility for patient when performing patient care activities or procedure.
- Maintains patient centered focus and supports the mission, goals and values of hospital and department.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
- High School Graduate
Preferred Education and Experience
- Technical training (such as Paramedic, EMT, Medical Assistant) or experience in related field
Required Licensure and Certification
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) BLS
Preferred Licensure and Certification
- Technical training certificate in related field
Knowledge Requirements
- Knowledge in obtaining EKGs required
