The Data Center Coordinator possesses strong knowledge regarding on- and off-site data center operations as well as emergency power systems. Responsible for both day-to-day tasks and assisting leadership in future planning. Travels to on-premises locations as needed within the larger metropolitan area. Communicates at all levels, employing audience-appropriate verbal skills, to create, enforce, and maintain industry-standard data center policies and procedures.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Design, develop and implement space management solutions and managing square footage for equipment, including space within equipment cabinets across colocations of UKH data center(s).
- Management, monitoring and budget knowledge of power load and distribution systems is essential. This includes, yet is not limited to both power allocation and distribution from central Power Distribution Panels, to power allocation both to and within equipment cabinets.
- Maintain electrical contractor vendor relationships to coordinate the installation and removal of power.
- Ability to assess and monitor Uninterruptable Power Systems (UPS) to mitigate risk to equipment and business operations. This includes not only UPS systems throughout the Hospital, but also campus buildings and multiple ambulatory clinic locations.
- Negotiate and maintain data center(s) infrastructure vendor contracts as needed, including UPS maintenance contracts and/or associated service level agreements.
- Conducts assessments to identify potential risk gaps and manages vendor relationships by applying the highest level of technical skill in the area of managing and maintaining multiple UKH data center facilities.
- Accountable for management of environmental/facility concerns and escalation of issues. This includes maintaining multi year term preventative maintenance schedules, identification of budgetary needs to maintain, upgrade and replace collocated data center(s) infrastructure components.
- Implement and coordinate operational maintenance activities, availability, capacity planning, and monitoring of both collocated data center(s).
- Manage, develop and implement standards of excellence in the data center locations. This will include coordination and scheduling data center(s) cleaning activity.
- Establish policy, procedures and/or guidelines for stakeholders and HITS staff to continually maintain data center(s) architecture and maintain a clean and orderly environment of computer equipment within data center(s) and storage areas.
- Effectively maintain and monitor air temperature to balance and maximize cooling potential including monitoring of humidity levels within data center(s).
- Negotiate system contracts and licensing renewals as appropriate to ensure data center infrastructure system components current and systems are updated for data center vendor monitoring software.
- Monitor alarm panels and respond to alarms by investigating root cause and taking appropriate action to ensure systems are not in jeopardy or creating further business risk.
- Monitor all HVAC cooling systems across multiple data center(s) at UKH and schedule periodic maintenance with appropriate vendor(s).
- Create and maintain documentation regarding rack locations and systems across multiple data center(s).
- Manage the physical security access list for collocated data center(s) with quarterly audits of personnel with access.
- Coordinate and collaborate with multiple stakeholders to procure/secure power and other necessary items for the data center(s) according to server and network teams’ needs /requirements.
- Maintain flexibility to work varying schedules (24/7) if necessary in response to preventative maintenance, projects and/or incidents (this may include weekend activity).
- Communicate necessary equipment additions, moves and changes with appropriate management utilizing the UKH change management policy, process and procedures.
- Logically manage installation and removal of equipment while keeping current with documentation and inventory.
- Baseline and maintain infrastructure systems metrics, track and report monthly data center(s) infrastructure system(s) statistics.
- Liaison with such stakeholders as University, Disaster Recovery, and Emergency Management teams as appropriate in planning data center(s) recovery.
- Keep current with knowledge of data center best practices and products.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
- Associates Degree in a related field of study from an accredited college or university.
- 2 or more years of relevant work experience.
