The Mammography Technical Quality Coordinator position assists the section head, operations manager and supervisor with the overall direction of the technical quality program in accordance with MQSA and ACR positioning criteria and the high standards of The University of Kansas Health System. This position participates in mentoring staff and providing documentation of quality and process improvement processes.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Demonstrates knowledge and ability to produce quality images following established departmental and QA protocols to include techniques, views, positioning, labeling, and all ACR/MQSA requirements.
- Maintains own imaging quality at the highest possible level through continuous didactic study, collaborating with the radiologists, and researching best practices.
- Continual monitoring of departmental quality outcomes through positioning audits, informal evaluation, focused feedback, review of data, and observation of technologists positioning.
- In conjunction with the manager and section head, manages continuous education and training.
- Works with the manager, supervisor, lead mammographer and section head to orient and train new staff, students, and residents.
- Works with hospital and department wide quality initiatives, such as Lean, PDCA, and other improvement methodologies.
- Assists the manager, supervisor, lead mammographer, and section head to update and develop protocols and communicates changes to all staff. Acts as a resource for the breast imaging service line, to include, but not limited to, Mammography, Sonography, and MRI.
- Demonstrates effective time management skills, completes all tasks as assigned.
- Properly troubleshoots equipment failures and escalates issues promptly.
- Acts as a coach and positive role model for staff and colleagues.
- Demonstrates flexibility in reviewing new approaches in response to changing organizational and healthcare needs.
- Assists staff in obtaining continuing education resources and continuous learning.
- Treats patients, families, and all customers in a friendly, courteous, and helpful manner.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
- High School Graduate
- 5 or more years Mammographer or Breast Imaging experience
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree
Required Licensure and Certification
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Licensed Radiologic Technologist (LRT) - Kansas Board of Healing Arts (KSBHA)
- Mammography (M) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) OR
- Breast Sonography (BS) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Preferred Language Skills
- - Additional language
Knowledge Requirements
- Ability to utilize computer systems to perform patient testing and retrieve data related to the monitoring of quality performance needs.
- Computer skills to assist in providing high level documentation for department performance standards, teaching presentations, and overall demonstration of departmental strengths and opportunities.
