Position Summary / Career Interest:

As part of the centralized Analytics and Business Intelligence department, an EMR Developer works to fulfill analytical requests generated by all departments within the health system. Content developed by this role in the EMR environment should be designed to improve patient care, enhance patient engagement, advance operational efficiency, and improve the health system’s financial position. This role adds value to the health system by enhancing application functions, advancing the skills of their teams, and providing better service and products for their customers. Successful candidates should have strong critical thinking and communication skills with an analytical mindset. Attention to detail is an important characteristic for candidates interested in this position. Candidates should be comfortable operating in a dynamic environment with ability to balance multiple priorities and competing deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • Create, analyze, modify, configure, and distribute content using information technologies to support clinical and operational processes and organizational initiatives in the EMR environment.
  • Translate analytical business requirements within request and design solutions that meet the needs of the customers.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code with focus on reliability embedded in development standards to support data processes.
  • Ability to understand workflows, data collection methods, and reporting solutions to present advantages/disadvantages of analytical options available to the customer.
  • Provide customer portal support by administering user security, publishing updated content, performing configurations, supporting upgrades, monitoring performance to ensure successful completion, and mitigating incidents if they occur.
  • Assist with developing portal documentation related to security, customer experience, and content standards by working closely with the identity management team to ensure portal practices adhere to security standards.
  • Responsible for integrity of the outputs including validation of the data in analytical solutions, systems, and data domains.
  • Monitor the performance of existing analytical solutions and taking corrective action to optimize or improve their performance for assigned domains and associated data models.
  • Detect data discrepancies and data quality issues and work with other content development members and subject matter experts to ensure data consistency and integrity.
  • Engage with Application Analysts and Clinical Informatics Analysts during design and build stages to align content development with operational workflows and validate requirements that define success as part of the implementation.
  • Proactively identify opportunity to improve an existing content development process, communicating these opportunities to internal teams as well as customers where relevant.
  • Assist with process enhancement initiatives within and cross-functional teams that drive efficiency, productivity, and standardization.
  • Work closely with analytics and business intelligence managers to identify, recommend, develop/modify and support data and business intelligence strategies resulting from system changes, upgrades, implementations, etc.
  • Assist with efforts to develop and maintain documentation related to datasets and data models in the EMR environment, ensuring that everyone on the content development teams uses the same language and definitions.
  • Assist with processes that define and improve internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale data infrastructure in the EMR environment.
  • Discover opportunities for an organization to improve its systems and processes through the use of data analytics.
  • Review tasks critically and ensure they are appropriately prioritized and sized for incremental delivery.
  • Contribute and maintain content in the business intelligence solution catalog and associated metadata records.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 4 years related experience/education
  • 2 years’ experience working with one or more Epic suite of analytical tools such as Crystal, Radar, Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer, etc.
  • 4 years’ data analysis and content development experience in a healthcare environment (including knowledge of standard healthcare nomenclator and terminology)
  • 2 years’ SQL experience in a relational database or an equivalent combination of education and experience or other comparable programming language
  • Epic certification in 2 data model(s). If not certified, certification is required within 12 months from employment

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree in Business/ Health Administration, Computer Science/ or related field
  • Experience developing applications with one or more business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Qlik, SAP Business Objects, Tableau, etc.
  • Experience with database management technologies
  • Experience in database building, maintenance, and reporting
