The Radiation Oncology Supervisor ensures the efficient and competent performance of all health care support staff in the radiation treatment area.


Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  • Ensures the efficient and competent performance of all health care support staff in the radiation treatment area.
  • Maintains adequate simulation, external beam, HDR staffing and provides therapists’ staffing and call schedules in a timely manner.
  • Consults with Department Director with regard to problems in the treatment area.
  • Participates in hiring and/or terminates support personnel; trains new radiation therapist staff; provides corrective action as needed.
  • Performs annual evaluations of therapist staff and reviews evaluations with Director.
  • Provides and maintains effective communication with Radiation Oncology staff and UKHA departments and the community.
  • Assists Director in establishing and monitoring quality assurance processes related to treatment delivery and charge entry.
  • Supports data entry in time management system, electronic health record(s), transcription service and record/verify systems.
  • Provides Director with product information in relationship to the budgeting process.
  • Provides training, development and implementation of record/verify and electronic health record.
  • Performs clinical duties on treatment machine/HDR as required to support treatment delivery as needed and assure consistency of procedures in treatment area.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelors Degree Healthcare management or business management
  • High School Graduate
  • 5 or more years Clinical experience as a radiation therapist
  • 2 or more years Experience in supervisory role in radiation oncology department

Required Licensure and Certification
  • Basic Life Support Heartsaver (BLS HS) (Non-Clinical) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Radiation Therapy (T) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Registered Radiation Therapist in the State of Kansas

Knowledge Requirements
  • Knowledge of American College of Radiology standards of care for Radiation Oncology
  • Working knowledge of JCAHO, OSHA guidelines
