Psychologist - Clinical Scientist (Addictions)

The University of Kansas Health System, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Division of Psychology, is seeking a Clinical Scientist with an interest in Addictions research and counseling, who will join the team and support the departmental mission of delivering the highest quality of care.  The selected individual will join the Department of Psychiatry at the Assistant Professor level joining our rapidly growing 23-member Psychology Division team.

About the position:

  • Develop/support a research effort to attract funding and establish areas of expertise

  • Develop collaborative and independent research programs supporting the mission of the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) and to obtain extramural funding to support these initiatives

  • Publish and present study results with local, national, or international audiences

  • Create clinical guidelines, policies, or patents

  • Work effectively with KUMC Research Administration or outside collaborative facilities

  • Provide clinical activities that support the department's teaching efforts including lectures and other activities to medical students, physicians in graduate medical education and psychology trainees as appropriate

  • Serve in local or national academic and scientific organizations. Serve on Department committees and provide service to the School of Medicine, University, or hospital as appropriate

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be fully licensed or licensable in the State of Kansas (primary) and Missouri (or PSYPACT) by the time of the appointment

  • PhD in a field related to Mental Health or Addiction. Graduate of U.S. accredited program in appropriate graduate field

  • Research performance history is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post-Doctoral research training

  • Successful grant history

  • Experience interfacing with other medical school and hospital departments

  • Expertise in an area related to Mental Health or Addiction Psychiatry, but established programs in other psychiatric areas will be considered
