Physician - IBD Gastroenterologist

The University of Kansas Health System, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, has a faculty position opening for a Gastroenterologist with advanced training or extensive clinical experience in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, who will join the team and support the departmental mission of delivering the highest quality of care, as well as satisfying teaching, research, and academic responsibilities at the region's quaternary referral center.

The University of Kansas Health System offers state-of-the-art medical treatment across a broad spectrum of disciplines, with diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures that include ERCP, EUS, endoluminal stenting, endotherapy for Barrett’s esophagus and other advanced endoscopic procedures.  Integrated medical and surgical ICU with outstanding subspecialty services and busy bariatric and colorectal surgery programs.

The Inflammatory Bowel Disease Specialist will help to build our expanding multidisciplinary IBD clinic with social worker, clinical pharmacists and psychiatry support, and will also participate in our Advanced IBD Training Program and ACGME GI Fellowship Training Program, with protected time for academic activities such as teaching and research.  Duties primarily include a mixture of clinical and endoscopy time.

About the position:

  • Full spectrum of general gastroenterology, including upper and lower endoscopy procedures; combined clinic and hospital-based practice, and hospital call rotation to cover inpatient and ED consults

  • Serve as a clinical educator to GI fellows, residents, and medical students

  • Opportunities to engage in clinical trials and research 

  • Gastroenterology team comprised of 16 GI faculty, 7 Transplant Hepatologists (10 total Hepatology Faculty), 3 IBD Faculty and 20 APPs (2 of which are exclusive to IBD)

  • Endoscopy suites at multiple locations with planned expansion in 2024

  • Participate in educational conferences

Successful candidate will be:

  • Fellowship-trained and board certified or equivalent in Gastroenterology

  • Experienced in Inflammatory Disease and/or trained at a major Inflammatory Disease treatment center

  • Eligible for licensure in Kansas and Missouri
