Position Title

Physician - General Adult Psychiatry

The University of Kansas Health System, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City, Kansas is seeking a general psychiatrist. This position will perform direct services to patients within the Consultation and Liaison service area.

About the position:

  • Work directly with the Director of the Division of Consult/Liaison Services.
  • Provide direct services to patients within the Consult and Liaison service area, particularly in the inpatient hospital setting. 
  • Facilitate interaction and harmony in the Department and effective continuum of patient care and follow-up.
  • Maintain a clinical practice in the outpatient clinics and/or outreach site, providing a full range of therapeutic interventions including diagnostic assessment, medication evaluation and management, crisis intervention and overall care of patients with psychiatric disorders.
  • Participate in supervision and teaching in support of the psychiatric residency program, psychology trainees and students in areas of faculty’s expertise in didactic lectures and clinical settings. 
  • Participate in clinical and administrative on-call activities, weekend call, continuous performance improvement and participate in Medical School and Department committees as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: M.D., D.O. or equivalent and ABPN board certification/board eligibility in General Psychiatry. The candidate must hold a medical license (or be eligible for licensure) in the State of Kansas.
  • Work Experience: 1 - 3 years in an academic teaching center and inpatient psychiatry experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Work Experience: Inpatient experience.
