Orthopedic Casting Tech
Under the direction of a Physician, Registered Nurse, or other designated licensed health care professional, the Orthopedic Casting Technician assumes responsibility for performing and/or assisting with treatments and procedures; monitors and maintains equipment and provides patient /family education related to Orthopedic Services.
Responsibilities:
- Performs tasks as delegated by the Physician, Registered Nurse or other delegated licensed health care professional including but not limited to:
- Application and removal of casting/splinting, and/or braces under the direction/supervision of the orthopedic providers.
- Application and removal of post-op bandages/dressings
- Wound care-including but not limited to pin care
- Performs appropriate documentation and patient education in patient’s chart related to casting/splinting as directed by Dr, NP, PA, or RN
- Maintains and inventories casting equipment; works with department Manager on purchasing new equipment and securing repairs
- Performs duties as assigned in the Orthopedic physician clinic under the direction of a licensed health care professional
- Conducts education/casting workshops for staff
*Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- BLS Certification
- Experience in orthopedic clinic/setting
- Knowledge of orthopedic devices and their usage
- Familiarity with medical terminology
Preferred:
- Prior experience as casting tech
- Technical/Professional Training
Certified Orthopedic Technician or Certified Orthopedic Casting Technician
