Responsibilities
Job Summary
The Nursing Support Systems Manager reports to the Nursing Director with collaboration with the Business Director Operations-Organizational Improvement to handle business operations of the department of nursing including monitoring of resource utilization, assisting in interpreting and driving change using productivity data, tracking, gathering and reporting information such as licensure, certifications. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance. Supervises and directs the work of office support staff whose duties are highly diverse. The main responsibility of the team is to support the Department of Nursing administrative needs and to ensure staffing changes are recorded and communicated.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Collaborates with Department Director in the budget process and makes recommendations for budget strategy.
- Monitors productivity measures and identify benchmark institutions to achieve the targets.
- Assist in interpreting and driving change using productivity data, such as Action OI and works to leverage data/functionality from KRONOS.
- Partners with Nursing, Director of Business Operations and Human Resources and other departments as required to facilitate structured and monitored contracts/relationships with vendors.
- Outlines business metrics, processes for obtaining the data and developing dashboard to support for at a glance awareness and support decision making.
- Share point resource for department – development, education and maintenance of.
- Completes Performance improvement reviews on business operations of department and supporting managers and directors in using those in their areas.
- Develops, coordinates and deploys manager classes for nurse manager's for business operations. (budget variances, sharepoint utilization, KRONOS metrics)
- Acts as key point person for DON initiatives such as Royals Events and logistics, new nursing hub (space, equipment, access)
- Coordinates the nursing licensure/nursing certification information for the Department of Nursing and other departments that have nurses; compiles reports and effective tracking methodology to communicate with nursing leadership
- Develops and implements processes and tracking methods for centralized functions of the Department of Nursing, and tracks expenses; such as parking expense, contract labor, KRONOS licenses, and other centralized expenses for the cost center.
- Manages inventory of equipment. Directs and coordinates for department maintenance.
- Coordinates and administers business office activities and services provided to the Department of Nursing, such as mail, security, telephones and supplies.
- Supporting the implementation of and oversight of the policy repository.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor Degree Nursing in Nursing OR
- Bachelors Degree in Health Care Management OR
- Bachelors Degree in Business
- Financial data experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master Health Care Management in Health Care Administration (or currently enrolled) OR
- Masters Business Administration (or currently enrolled)
- Previous supervisor experience
- 5 or more years of healthcare experience
