Position Summary / Career Interest:
The Advanced Practice Clinical Coordinator is a licensed advance practice provider (PA or NP) who, in addition to clinical responsibilities with his/her collaborative physician, has responsibility for ongoing oversight of a group of PA's and/or NP's in a related program, service line or department. The role serves as the clinical expert/liaison for their designated group and facilitates the advancement, efficiency, and effectiveness of patient care delivery through project management, mentoring, education and role modeling in their specialty. In addition, the Advanced Practice Clinical Coordinator serves as a liaison between the program or service line and the health system priorities and goals. A qualified coordinator will manage a group of advance practice providers (PA's and NP's). The Coordinator will assist in developing and interpreting organizational policies for budgets and personnel; assist with orientation and on-boarding of new advance practice providers, maintain annual collaborative practice agreements with physician partners, develop staffing models to ensure adequate coverage within their service line, assume responsibility for safe and proper operation and quality control of equipment, techniques, and procedures; and analyze and evaluate activities to assure quality patient care. Additional qualifications include superior interpersonal skills with an ability to articulate a vision and influence others in the support of broad objectives and accomplishment of strategic aims. The Coordinator will need to quickly establish credibility, role model collegiality and respect, and maintain ongoing trusting relationships with physicians, leaders, staff, strategic partners and the community. Excellent communication, multidisciplinary team building, and conflict resolution skills required. Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the advance practice provider role (PA or NP) in the assigned unit or department.
- Contributes to planning goals and objectives for the service line and department and assists with leadership in coordination of activities and programs specific to APP role in those goals.
- Documents needs for changes in staffing/budget and makes recommendations to APP Committee, Senior Administrators, and Directors.
- Manages and evaluates performance and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) of APP personnel in collaboration with the input from the Medical Director and/or Senior Administrators and Directors.
- Active involvement in interviews, selection, and hiring.
- Develops and monitors the onboarding and proctoring plan for new APP’s; assists them in identifying and meeting learning needs related to position responsibilities; encourages continued professional growth and development. Coordinates the Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) for each new AP and when new procedures/education is required.
- Responsible for work schedules and assignments, on-call arrangements; and emergency changes. Performs all aspects of clinical and administration as scheduled.
- Responds flexibly to departmental needs of the team in terms of shift assignments, duties outside of the rotation and in the teaching and supervision of students and trainees.
- Facilitates regularly scheduled staff meetings; facilitates communication among the members of assigned service line. Acts as liaison between APP group and health system.
- Develops and maintains quality improvement programs for APP’s in cooperation with department initiatives.
- Develops productivity goals and measurements in collaboration with physician colleagues.
- Plans in-service educational activities.
- Mentors new advance practice providers.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
- Age appropriate training for “population served” may depend on APRN/PA program training and may require additional training as determined by the department.
- 2 or more years relevant work experience as an APP in an ICU/high acuity setting
Preferred Education and Experience
- Previous formal leadership role.
Required Licensure and Certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) if working in an ICU
- Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Single State - State Board of Nursing
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) - State Board of Nursing Copy of the current advanced practice license for the State of Kansas and/or Missouri (depending on practice locations) – PA or APRN - Advanced practice certification Specific certification may be required depending on specialty
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
