The Department of Radiation Oncology at The University of Kansas Medical Center and University of Kansas Cancer Center, an NCI designated comprehensive cancer center, seeks to recruit a senior breast radiation oncologist at our main academic location and to direct the disease section under the leadership of endowed chair Dr. Ron Chen. The Department has state-of-the-art clinical facilities including IBA Proteus One proton therapy program, high volume brachytherapy programs, adaptive therapy, and Theranostics serving over 7,000 new patients annually across an integrated clinical program.

The University of Kansas Cancer Center is an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. The University of Kansas Cancer Center has recently received a $100 million lead gift to build a new, state-of-the-art destination cancer center.

The Department consists of 25 physician faculty, 20 physicists and highly skilled dosimetrists, therapists, and nurses.  It includes active research infrastructure, basic and translational programs with departmental research staff for clinical trial coordination, grant administration, and a full-time statistician.  There is an ACGME-accredited four-year residency program in radiation oncology and a CAMPEP-accredited medical physics residency.

Our main academic location and the community locations are in the Kansas City Metro area. Kansas City is a growing, vibrant community, and several of the suburbs are consistently ranked as top places to live in the United States and have outstanding schools.

Required Qualifications:

  • MD or DO
  • ABR Board Certified
  • Completion of a Radiation Oncology residency, from an accredited institution
  • Eligible for licensure in Kansas and Missouri
