Position Summary / Career Interest:
The Health Information Management Associate III performs any or all of the essential functions for Patient Identity, Chart Completion, Document Management, and Release of Information. This position performs advanced functions within the Health Information Management family responsible for completing chart corrections. Coordinates with the Revenue Cycle Optimization team to test and resolve issues with implementation and go lives with EMR.

The Health Information Management Associate III performs any or all of the essential functions for Patient Identity, Chart Completion, Document Management, and Release of Information. This position performs advanced functions within the Health Information Management family responsible for completing chart corrections. Coordinates with the Revenue Cycle Optimization team to test and resolve issues with implementation and go lives with EMR.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Processes medical record information according to job specific essential functions and role.
- Identifies training needs, documents procedures, prepares instructional materials, and serves as a trainer for new employees and ongoing procedural changes. Reinforces training to users.
- Serves as a subject matter expert for Health Information Management associates to answer practice or policy questions and issue resolution.
- Performs quality assurance/performance improvement. Audits, analyzes data and trends and prepares and finalizes materials for leadership to review.
- Completes the chart correction process within the specific job role.
- Coordinates with the HIM Revenue Cycle Optimization Analyst for application design, testing, and issue resolution for implementations and post go-live support within the specific job role.
- Learns the HIM departmental systems in depth across multiple job roles that support the EMR through a combination of formal and on-the-job training.
- Assists HIM Revenue Cycle Optimization Analyst with troubleshooting any EMR interface errors or application issues within the specific job role.
- Assists HIM Revenue Cycle Quality and Training Analyst with quality monitoring and training needs. Provides recommendations for process improvement, further education and training opportunities.
- Achieves consistent quality performance and meets the quality standard defined by the department.
- Achieves consistent productivity performance and meets production standard for the specific job role.
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
- High School Graduate or GED.
- 3 or more years of experience in data entry, chart completion, statistics, release of information, patient identity, or quality analysis.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Associates Degree in Health Information Management or a related field of study from an accredited college or university.
- 4 or more years of Epic experience.
Knowledge Requirements
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to travel between Health System locations.
