LPN - Ambulatory Clinic Job

We are looking for patient-focused nurses dedicated to providing personalized, quality care for our patients and their families in our primary care practice. Our Internal Medicine Clinic, located on the 4th floor of the Medical Office Building on the main campus of The University of Kansas Health System, focuses on general and geriatric medicine. Our outpatient nurses work side-by-side with physicians to provide outstanding, compassionate care in a supportive environment.

Essential Job Functions

Manage and provide patient care. Assess patients' needs for nursing care and multidisciplinary team care. Collaborate with physicians, other service providers and patients and their families to plan care and evaluate outcomes. Demonstrate clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies. Access, input and retrieve information from computer systems. Ensure continuity of care through appropriate patient education and coordination of services. Act as an advocate for patient and family in order to uphold patient rights. Train, coach and assist other team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.

Greet patients and prepare them for examinations.

Screen patients for appropriate information.

Complete point-of-care testing (flu, strep, HA1C, INR, glucose, etc.).

Administer injections and draw blood for tests.

Complete EKGs, nebulizer and spirometry treatments.

Scan outside patient records into EMR.

Assist with department phone triage and return calls as needed.

Complete refills per protocol.

Maintain patient confidentiality.

Document care according to established standards in the EMR.


Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing


Required: None


Required: Current state of Kansas nursing license (LPN)

Required: Current Basic Life Support certification (BLS)
