The Department of Clinical Laboratory is a full-service laboratory operating 24 hours a day. We currently have an opening for a Histotechnologist. The Histotechnologist is a member of the laboratory team who prepares tissue specimens for evaluation. A Pathologist then uses those complex techniques to establish and confirm a patient diagnosis. The tasks performed by the Histotechnologist require patience, mechanical ability and a strong knowledge of the biological sciences. There are five intricate steps which include: 1) Grossing/Fixation, 2) Processing, 3) Embedding, 4) Sectioning and 5) Staining; each an integral part of the Histotechnologist's job.
Associate's degree or 60 semester hours from an accredited college or university which includes 6 semester hours each in chemistry and biology and 1 full year of recent experience in histopathology required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
ASCP NCA required.
HT/HTL ASCP registration (or eligible) preferred.
