We currently have an opening for a HIM Associate II
Processes medical record information according to job specific essential functions and role.
Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology.
Utilizes e-mail and may do basic Excel spreadsheet functions.
Utilizes critical thinking in application of job specific functions and role.
Achieves consistent quality performance and meets the quality standard as defined by the HIM Department.
Achieves consistent productive performance and meets production standard for the specific job role.
May perform quality assurance/performance improvement tracking and trending.
Ability to serve as a super user. Handles questions from users within the job role and responds in a timely manner.
Learns the HIM departmental systems in depth within the job role that support the electronic medical record (EMR) through a combination of formal and on-the-job training.
Reviews requests for release of information to ensure HIPAA compliance. Maintains patient confidentiality and utilizes knowledge to ensure that releases are responded to with accuracy and according to law and regulation.
Utilizes EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System for full release of information process. Utilizes critical thinking to select records and documents to be released according to the specific request, observing both minimum necessary as well as accurate disclosure keeping in mind dates of service, place of service and specific information requested.
Effectively assimilates the multiple decision points and incorporates understanding of the enterprise level of medical record documentation and integration as it relates to release of information.
Demonstrates understanding of systems integration as it relates to release of information as well as functional areas of Health Information Management.
Responds to release requests in a timely manner. Review report of assigned releases daily and consistently enters specific comments regarding the status of the request. Requests should be completed within the Release of Information Turn- Around-Time Guideline unless extenuating circumstances exist and are documented.
High School Diploma or GED required
Two years of health information management, health care and/or relevant office experience required; 3 years preferred
Oral and Written English language skills required; Spanish preferred
Basic knowledge of Excel preferred
