We currently have an opening for Surgical Technologist
Following department standards, maintains asepsis, positioning, prepping and draping, needle, sponge and instrument count, specimen care and dressing application.
Prepares instruments and supplies for sterilization; cleans and decontaminates instruments; assists in cleaning/preparing OR suite for next case.
Safely provides appropriate instrumentation to surgeon.
Provides psychological and physical comfort measures to patient and identifies changes in condition and reports to RN/Charge Nurse.
Adheres to all aspects of the OR Surgical Attire policy.
Prepares for surgical cases by checking accuracy of case pulled including, but not limited to, instruments and supplies.
Correctly labels all solutions and medications, including concentration, on the sterile field, including bulb syringes/aseptos and syringes.
Maintains highest standard of the sterile technique, keeping instruments clean and ready for use by the surgeon.
Actively participates in the Surgical Safety Checklist, including the surgical site and patient verification.
Additional duties: Assists in maintaining normothermia; assists with patient transfer to the OR table and safe positioning, utilizing appropriate equipment and principles to avoid patient injury.
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Certificate or Associate's Surgical Tech degree required
BLS Certification required
Voluntary certification available through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting and the National Center for Competency Testing
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technologist may be substituted for the professional education requirement
Ability to understand, speak, read and write English
