Risk Management Coordinator Job

We currently have an opening for an Risk Management Coordinator II

Responsibilities:

Assist in development of Hospital Risk Management Plan and annual assessment.

Serve as a proactive resource to KU Med Center departments and committees to promote safe and quality patient care and reduce liability exposure.

Trend, organize and report data related to risk management and patient safety.

Monitor departmental and committee compliance with standards.

Collaborate with medical staff risk management, peer review and organization improvement committees to facilitate appropriate review and support quality and safe patient care.

Exercise professional judgment and critical thinking to facilitate focused investigation and root cause analysis and the development of appropriate corrective action plans.

Prepare periodic risk management reports to support risk management and performance improvement activities.

Develop and maintain medical staff performance triggers, chart review and peer review and database.

Involve appropriate hospital personnel in answering quality and risk concerns received from the PRO.

Assist in maintaining system for trending and analysis of reported complaints, incidents and claims including but not limited to data entry and report writing.

Coordinate with staff development and medical staff medical director on the development and presentation of educational programs on risk management issues.

Participate in the orientation of new employees/physicians to introduce risk management philosophies and programs.

Promote the containment of claims and losses.

Support risk management activities as appropriate.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Healthcare

5-7 years experience in clinical record review/analysis

7-10 years professional clinical, quality management/assurance, risk management, peer review or professional liability claims experience

Computer skills required including Word, Excel and Access
