Open since 1973, the Gene and Barbara Burnett Burn Center is the only adult and pediatric burn center in greater Kansas City accredited by the American Burn Association and the American College of Surgeons. Patients with chemical, electrical, and flame and scald burns or complex wounds and skin conditions receive specialized care from our multidisciplinary team of experts. The Burnett Burn Center features:

  • On-site operating room
  • 16 specialized beds
  • Rehabilitation room
  • Patient and family comfort area

Our staff have the ability to provide ICU care, telemetry services, wound care, and participate in supportive events for burn survivors of Kansas City. We work with all populations, children and adults. Experience within an ICU or other critical care unit is preferred. Provides professional nursing care through assessment and accurate documentation, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation for the comfort and well-being of patients

Carries out a plan of care specific to unit competencies for the target patient population

Coordinates care delivery and education through collaboration with patient, family and all health care team providers to ensure safe, effective and quality patient care

Follows organizational policies in providing safe patient care


Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing Required

Registered Nurse in the State of Kansas or eligible required

BLS Certification required

6 months to 2 year's experience as a Clinical Nurse required
